Nihao! Nishi Area
A popular Ropponmatsu-based Chinese restaurant for more than 20 years, Nihao is run by a father and son-in-law duo hailing from Beijing. Featuring a wide selection of dishes, including vegetables, seafood, beef, pork, tofu, soup, rice, and noodles, the menu is simple yet packs a strong punch. Also, the servings are very generous, so we recommend sharing a variety of orders amongst the members of your party. The sautéed tomato and egg dish and the sautéed green pepper dish (both ¥1,050) are a treat for the eye as well as the palate. For an inexpensive lunch, the lunchtime set menu prices are excellent value. The restaurant's lively atmosphere combined with its large number of local Chinese customers makes people feel as if they've traveled to China without stirring from their seats. Despite the restaurants casual no-frills style, well-known people such as SoftBank Hawks head coach, Sadaharu Oh, are known to frequent the establishment. Check-out the collection of his signed photos taken over the years above the kitchen counter. The staff are cheerful and friendly, so don't hesitate to chat or make inquires. For parties, business banquets, and more, make sure to take advantage of the multi-purpose tatami room in the back.
