The Faces Hakata Tenjin Area
A venue with so many looks, The Faces Hakata is aptly named. It's just as ideal for a light breakfast, a leisurely lunch, quiet coffee, delicious dinner, or as a sophisticated spot for drinks and snacks in the evening. Located on the ground floor of the exclusive Eeny Meeny Miny Mo shopping center, and overlooking the Naka River from its patio, Faces offers a prime and unique dining location. It's rapidly becoming a place to see, and be seen. Much thought, care and expense has gone into the interior and furnishings, especially the lighting, audio and video system. Another unique feature is Kyushu's first prepaid card wine serving system. After purchasing a card, approach the high-tech serving station, select your measure of choice (30, 60 or 100ml) of one of eight varieties of fine wine, press a button, and voila! The system uses a special gas to keep the wines fresh, thereby allowing patrons to sample delicate and expensive wines by the glass, rather than by the full bottle. Beer drinkers aren't forgotten: Faces is also the first venue in Kyushu to offer Heineken Extra Cold draft (-2oC) drawn from a tap encased in ice. It is, literally, very cool! The menu (available in English) features a variety of European-style dishes, among which the grilled meats can be particularly recommended. Enjoy one of Fukuoka's best patios before winter sets in!
