On Mar. 9, around 50 cherry trees were planted in Nakasu, Fukuoka’s “entertainment district”. The tree-planting project was promoted by Mrs. Fukidou a well know proprietor in Nakasu. She said that over the past 45 years the Nakasu district has become increasingly untidy, and hopes that the cherry trees will help to restore the area to its former beauty.
The cherry trees will line the main street of Nakasu. Over time, there are hopes to extend the project by planting several hundreds of cherry trees throughout Nakasu.
