Returning for its 14th year, this two-day festival draws crowds of 40,000 yakitori-lovers. 14 yakitori booths and 18 sake breweries fill the park with dishes priced between ¥300 ~ ¥500. Considered by some to be among the best yakitori in Japan, they sell out quickly, so don’t be late! There will be a cocktail booth where Kurume’s best bartenders prepare cocktails using ingredients such as shochu from Kumamoto, kabosu from Oita, local sake from Chikugo, amongst others. On the Sunday (Oct. 2) stalls will be selling yakitori using Kumamoto and Oita-grown ingredients and proceeds on this day will go towards Kumamoto earthquake relief (limited to 1 per person.)
