Sake doesn’t just pair well with Japanese food, it also goes great with many other kinds of cuisine: this is the message gourmet shop and restaurant Dean & DeLuca seeks to teach sake enthusiasts and novices alike at its new monthly Sake Market. Learn new and better ways to enjoy food and sake together! Enjoy 20 different types of sake from Sumiyoshi Shuhan (the specialty liquor store with a wide range of sake; co-ordinator of the event) (¥500 a glass) and various tapas-style dishes from Dean & DeLuca (¥500 each). There is a different theme for each month; July’s theme is pork, so expect some delicious pork dishes from the deli. If you find a type of sake you particularly like, you can buy a bottle to take home. The Market Table restaurant will be decorated to look like a sake market for the event.
