Hakofes 2016

START: Sep 12, 2016 END: Sep 18, 2016

This annual event aims to spread the Hojoya festival atmosphere from Hakozaki Shrine to the entire Hakozaki neighbourhood. Events range from traditional comedy to modern pop music performances (a map and list of events can be found here)! On Sep. 18 (11:00~12:00, 13:00~14:00), the JR Hakozaki Station concourse will be the be the venue for a concert with musicians (ranging in age from seven to seventy) playing handmade bamboo instruments. If you want something a bit more upbeat, check out Kyushu’s very own idol group, LinQ; they’ll be giving a free performance on Sep. 18 at JR Hakozaki Station (12:00~18:00, Higashi-guchi Hiroba). Fancy a giggle? “Comedy for Lunch” is the first English-language stand up comedy show to be held as part of Hakofes! Enjoy a tasty lunch at Cafeteria Iniesta whilst chuckling at the lineup of top comedians, including Comedy Fukuoka’s exuberant and razor-sharp founder Ollie Horn and internationally famous bilingual Japanese comedian Zenjiro (Sep. 17, Sat., 12:00~14:30; more info here). “Hakomedy!”, a stand up comedy show (in Japanese), is on Sep. 16 (map #4, 20:30~), and Hako Rakugo, traditional Japanese comic storytelling, is on Sep. 18 at Shorakuji Temple (17:00~).
