The Mikumagawa River is famous for yana, a traditional river fishing method involving wooden dam-like structures. Nearby, children catch ayu (Japanese river trout) with their bare hands in a mock yana at Takeda Park, and enjoy freshly caught fish grilled with salt. Other family-friendly activities too.
