Katayama Setsuzo (1914~2005) took portraits of over 100 famous people who were notable for their additions to Japan’s cultural history during the Showa period. Portraits include those of the famous writers, Shiga Naoya and Shirasu Masako as well as the portraits of other artists and scholars. Katayama visited his subjects at their homes or at his own expense. The exhibition shows the portraits and his passionate for portrait photography.
