All aboard the yellow submarine! Ringo Starr (singer-songwriter, actor and former drummer for the Beatles) is coming to Fukuoka this October! Last April, he released a new album titled “Postcards from Paradise”. He is scheduled to come to Fukuoka with the following musicians, each famous in their own right: Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals; Toto), Richard Page (bass, vocals; ex Mr. Mister), Gregg Rolie (keyboard, vocals; ex Santana/Journey), Todd Rundgren (guitar, vocals; ex Nazz/Utopia, The New Cars), Warren Ham (saxophone, percussion, vocals; ex Bloodrock/Kansas/AD) and Gregg Bissonette (ex David Lee Roth). At recent concerts, the group has started with “Matchbox”, a popular Beatles song in which Ringo sang the lead, before playing other Beatles songs and pieces by Ringo Starr, as well as songs by Toto, Mr. Mister, Santana, Todd Rundgren and more. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ historic performance at the Budokan in Tokyo. Ringo Starr will turn 76 on Jul. 7, so this may be his last performance in Fukuoka.
