Tiempo 4 All, Festival Of Art And Intercultural Communication

In celebration of their 20th anniversary, Tiempo Iberoamericano organizes their first Festival of Art and Intercultural Communication. On the 23rd and 24th of September, Tiempo will hold several events inside their own venue for the public. Curious what array of lectures, workshops, performances and exhibitions you can attend? We’ve put together a summary below!

EVENT CALENDAR

Open Forum (9/23 Sat., 16:00~18:00)
Five panelists from various nationalities and backgrounds will share their perspective on intercultural engagement through the arts by dialoguing about cutting edge initiatives or practical experiences across government, business, NPO and academic sectors towards dynamic community development. This forum is open to the general public and Tiempo invites people from all backgrounds to attend and join the discussion. Admission is free of charge, but it’s best to book in advance. Workshops (9/23 Sat. ~ 9/24 Sun., 9:30~16:45)

On both days of the event, Tiempo will organise a wide variety of workshops which include one on Spanish gestures as support for oral communication, a multicultural group art project, and a variety of dance lessons for which Tiempo is famed. Joining these workshops requires booking in advance, and one session costs ¥1,000. A discount voucher can also be bought for ¥2,500, with which you can participate in four sessions, as well as join the Tiempo 4 All party on the 23rd! (See below!) Tiempo 4 All Party (9/23 Sat., 19:00~)

In this multicultural night Tiempo will turn up the heat, with Latin performances, flamenco, Argentine tango, bellydancing and various musicians. Tiempo will also introduce a special guest: Wagakudan Japan Marvelous, whose creative and alternative performances are popular around the world. The group uses traditional Japanese instruments: drums, a koto harp and bamboo flutes. Admission fee is ¥1,000 and the purchase of one drink ticket (¥500) is required. Note that the voucher includes admission fee for the party, as well as for 4 conference sessions or workshops of your choice!

Performances and Exhibition (9/23 Sat. ~ 9/24 Sun., schedule to be announced)

Enjoy performances by Conrado, a flamenco guitarist, and other musical acts. Another special attraction will be the live paintings and art exhibitions of Shinya Mori, Elida Maria Matsumoto, and Vincent Lefrancois in the gallery space. A perfect opportunity to experience different cultures by tuning in for the performances and looking at paintings of local and foreign artists. Admission to both performances and exhibitions is free of charge.

Conference (9/23 Sat. ~ 9/24 Sun., 9:30~16:45)
1st International Conference on Intercultural Dialogue through the Arts: Community Development, Education and Policy brings together over 20 educators and specialists from all over the world to present their research and investigations. Two or three speakers will present in separate sessions about every theme. Choose which themes interest you and listen to the related presentations. This conference is co-organized by NPO Tiempo Iberoamericano in Fukuoka, and the Multicultural Fitness Community based at Saga University in Japan. It is supported by the Faculty of Art and Regional Design and the Faculty of Culture and Education at Saga University. It is also supported by Cultnet, a group of researchers sharing an interest in ‘the cultural dimension’ of language teaching.
