UNHCR Refugee Film Festival 2017

START: Nov 4, 2017 END: Nov 5, 2017

The UNHCR Refugee Film Festival was established in order to raise awareness about the plight of refugees, a global issue that is currently affecting the lives of tens of millions of people. This series of insightful movies will shed light on the experience of refugees in various parts of the world. The festival is also taking place in a number of cities across Japan from late September to mid-November. Titles to be screened in Fukuoka include “When God Sleeps”, a film exploring the trials facing an Iranian musician whose criticism of the country’s society puts his life in danger, and “Nice People”, which follows a group of young refugees who find themselves in Sweden after fleeing war-torn Somalia. Admission is free, so don’t miss it!
