Valentine’s at Hakata Hankyu

START: Jan 20, 2016 END: Feb 14, 2016

Love is in the air at Hakata Hankyu! This Valentine’s season, the depachika will be selling popular sweets from home and abroad, plus hosting special events. There will also be a particular section for sweets which simultaneously celebrate Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. Got a special someone you want to shower with chocolate and candy? (It is completely acceptable if that person is you!) Then you can choose from a whopping total of 130 different brands. Why not treat him/her/yourself to a dessert from Kyoto’s Gion-Sakai? Or cake from Jouvencelle? If you want something with a Kyushu twist, then check out Kagura’s chocolates made with Kyushu shochu. There will also be a selection of chocolates using motifs from the Star Wars series. But for a present with a difference, you can’t get more individual than chocolates in the shape of your own face. 3D printing studio Shrink and Patisserie Mannekenpis are teaming up to offer 50 lucky people the opportunity to receive a chocolate mold in the shape of their face (¥6,480). Participants will have a photo of their face taken, from which the mold will be made. They will then receive a piece of face-shaped chocolate and the mold itself. Those interested should register at Patisserie Mannekenpis (B1F) between 1/20 and 1/26; the molds will be available for collection between 2/10 and 2/14 at the event space on 8F (2/14: ~18:00). Hakata Hankyu’s Valentine’s celebrations will take place over three floors: B1F (1/20 ~ 2/14), 1F (2/1 ~ 2/14) and 8F (2/3 ~ 2/14).
