As the year comes to a close, Fukuoka Now celebrates some of the standout restaurants and cafes we’ve been to this year in our Foodie Flashback 2016. We also feature important information from the city about HIV and World AIDS Day 2016 including where you can go to get free tests. Our gourmet pick of the month is Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, a New York import that is serving up some of the best steaks this side of the Pacific. What’s more, Fukuoka Now readers will get a free glass of champagne if they mention Fukuoka Now while making a reservation. Be sure to check out Whisky Bar Leichhardt, which has up to 3,000 bottles in storage, and whose tux-clad owner will explain each bottle’s intricacies in fluent English. Cafe Yu, meanwhile, is a gorgeous cafe/pottery studio which seeks to recreate the aura of a mountain village shop with its verdant greenery. December’s issue is packed to the brim with the best events coming up this month and we’re particularly excited about the Atago Jinja Fire Festival!
