Hamburg Onion

Burgers chock-full of healthy onions makes these paddies healthy and juicy! With several fast-food chains offering mega-sized beef hamburgers on their menus, it’s clear that beef burgers are back! If you fancy a fat paddy but you also want your veggies, consider Hamburg Onion. Celebrating their 20th year, this family-owned chain with roots in Kurume opened their only shop in Fukuoka near the four-way intersection in Yakuin in 2005. True to the shop’s name, the burgers are made with tons of onions – almost half in fact! The result is a very soft, juicy and slightly sweet burger that’s not only filling, but good for you too! Their onions are sourced directly from growers in Kurume and Saga and cut by hand just prior to frying. Choose from three handmade sauces, wafu (soy sauce and radish), demi-glace, and teriyaki. Then select your size: S (140g), M (200g), L (300g) or be a man, and order the LL (500g)! The burgers are served with seasonal vegetables, rice, and unlimited refills of salad. Besides burgers, they have pork and shrimp dishes. Don’t let the 50% onion content spook you – the onion flavor is very subtle, and besides, you know it’s going to be good for you! Open from lunch right up until 23:00.
