Located in the heart of Daimyo, Ivorish is the ultimate spot for your next girl’s day out in the city. The new shop opens this Friday (6/21) and its split-level interior, central location and special menu of premium French Toast is sure to attract and indulge crowds. The name “Ivorish” comes from the ivory color of the French toast they serve, plus the word “cherish”. French toast is usually made with leftover hard bread, baked in butter and soaked in eggs. Ivorish chefs, however, spent six months perfecting their original recipe bread, which is used in every menu item – including parfaits and lunch meals!

The ground level offers six-person bar counter seating with a view of a modern open kitchen. Upstairs is an open space with booth and table seating (32 seats), and a great big window looking onto the Daimyo street, which bathes the restaurant in natural light. The interior is reminiscent of a NYC eatery, with wooden & brick details, cool light fixtures and a huge chalkboard wall where the Ivorish sweets and main meal menu is displayed artistically. It’s the small details that make things special at Ivorish – staff use iPods Touch to take your order (and iPads at the payment counter), menus are printed on newspaper-style broadsheets which customers can take them home, staff are friendly, and most importantly – the food is fresh and delicious!

The menu is styled after American eateries – the portions are big (ideal for sharing with a friend, or for a full feed by yourself!) and there are some items that you don’t often find in Japan. French Toast is the star of the menu, with many varieties on offer such as Tropical, Caramel Apple, Berry DX, Chocolate banana, or the classic Plain French Toast. You can order in regular (¥1,680~ ¥1,890) or half size (¥1,050~¥1,260). There are also six different Parfaits, including Four Berry Parfait (¥1,260), and Acai & Yoghurt Parfait (¥945). We tried the Berry DX French Toast and were amazed by the freshness of the raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and banana that topped the crispy-on-the-outside/soft-on-the-inside mascarpone French Toast (with cream and ice cream too!)

If you’re not a sweet tooth, there are also many appetizers and main meals available, such as Eggs Benedict French Toast (¥1,260), Garlic Shrimp and French Toast (¥1,260), and Cream sauce with mushrooms and ham French Toast (¥1,260). We opted for the Grilled chicken and avocado French Toast with dill mayonnaise and salad. Again, the produce was fresh, the dressing full of flavor, and the French Toast crispy! Drinks include organic coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks and after 18:00 you can order cocktails and alcohol.

The shop targets women, but it’s also an ideal date spot. Takeout is available too, and WiFi will be available soon. Note – there is one English-speaking staff member, so you may be lucky to meet her when you visit. Ivorish opens to the public this Friday 6/21.
