The Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry released its survey of salary conditions at companies in the greater Fukuoka City area for 2009 that showed 30.4% of the companies had no salary increases for the year. That is a 6.4 percentage-point increase over the previous year. The Chamber of Commerce says this demonstrates the major impact the global economic downturn has had on the region.
