The Fukuoka branch of Teikoku Databank released the results of its survey on Kyushu / Okinawa companies in China, which discovered that 434 regional firms have a presence in that country. The initial wave consisted of companies in the manufacturing industry building factories, but the recent move by retail companies to establishing a presence there has been noteworthy. Of all the companies in Japan with a presence in China, however, Kyushu / Okinawa firms account for only 4%.
