9% Increase in Travellers to/from Fukuoka Between 12/23 ~ 1/3

The Fukuoka Immigration Bureau announced 219,840 people travelled through Fukuoka Airport and Hakata Port between Dec. 23 and Jan. 3. This was a 9% increase when compared to the same period last year. Fukuoka Airport experienced a 12% increase in travellers, with a total of 202,680 passengers, but Hakata Port showed a 22% decline due to an increased number of people using LCCs to travel between Korea and Fukuoka. 55,140 people visited Korea via Fukuoka Airport (a 23% increase) and 15,980 (a 32% increase) travelled to Taiwan. 10,880 people visited mainland China, a 6% increase from the previous year. The number of foreign visitors who entered Japan via Fukuoka Airport was 59,470 (a 9% increase) and via Hakata Port, 5,250 (a 30% decline).
