Asakura and Kama City Seeking Name for Local Mountain

The cities of Asakura and Kama is soliciting the public to submit possible names for a mountain that lies between Mount Heizan (927 m) and Mount Umamiyama (978 m). Proposals for the unnamed peak, which sits in the Kosho mountain range that connects the two cities, will be accepted until Nov. 30. The exact reason why the mountain does not have an official name is not clear. Once the screening committee decides on a suggestion, they will submit the idea to the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan to feature the new name on the maps of the area. For inquiries please contact Asakura City (0946-52-1428, Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Department) or Kama City (0948-57-3154, Department Promoting Industry). Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 11/3/2017
