Bulgarian Judo Team Selects Munakata City as Olympic Camp

A signing ceremony was held to celebrate the Bulgarian judo team’s decision to use Munakata City as a camp in the build up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. The event was attended by a number of noted figures, including officials from Fukuoka Prefecture, Sanix Sports representatives, and the Bulgarian Judo Federation President Ivan Mihalev. The signing, which took place on Dec. 4 at the Bulgarian ambassador’s residence in Tokyo, also saw the two sides agree to hold further exchange projects in the future. Munakata currently has a friendship agreement in place with the city of Kazanlak and have held festivals promoting Bulgarian culture since 2001. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 12/6/2017
