Celebrate the UNESCO Registration of Five Kyushu Festivals

In celebration of UNESCO’s registration of five Kyushu festivals as Intangible Cultural Heritage last November, demonstrations of the festivals will be held in Fukuoka City on May 13 and 14. The five festivals, Hakata Gion Yamakasa in Fukuoka, Tobata Gion Oyamagasa in Kitakyushu, Karatsu Kunchi in Saga, Yatsushiro Myoukensai in Kumamoto and Hita Gion Hikiyama in Oita, will have special processions around the Fukuoka City Hall area.
