Cruise Line Route Between Hakata and Shanghai to be Tested

A cruise operating between the Port of Hakata and Shanghai will be tested from September. MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line will be offering special packages for the trial. Three different routes ranging in length and price will be available. The MSC Splendida cruise liner will sail in late September and cost passengers in the region of ¥400,000. The Norwegian Joy will be used for a number of different cruises in September and December. Tickets will range in price from ¥80,000 to ¥160,000. Fukuoka City plans to encourage more cruises to stop in the local area. The city signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shanghai Wusongkou International Terminal Development Co., Ltd. earlier this year that aims to establish a fixed cruise route between the two locations, increase tourism in both directions, and exchange information.
