Dai-ichi Kotsu Taxi Pairs with Didi Chuxing for Chinese Taxi App

Fukuoka taxi service Daiichi Kotsu collaborated with Chinese ride-sharing giant Didi Chuxing to launch an app-based taxi hailing service for Chinese visitors to Japan to help in decreasing the number of unlicensed taxis on the roads. Many Chinese tourists who wish to use Uber during their travels have been left frustrated and seeking an alternative due to Uber’s ongoing difficulties with Japan’s Road Transportation Act. The new Daiichi Kotsu-Didi Chuxing partnership aims to respond to the needs of the increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Japan. The new app will be developed by Daiichi Kotsu, Didi Chuxing, and the SoftBank Group. Specific details concerning fees and payment methods are yet undecided, but the aim is to introduce the service by spring of 2018 and ultimately produce a system that can be used by taxi companies throughout Japan.
