The Kitakyushu Emergency Goods Distribution Center was dedicated on May 18 (Wed.). Located in the Nishiminatomachi harbor zone in Kokurakita Ward, the new Center will enable the swift delivery of relief supplies in the event of a disaster. Originally conceived in the wake of the 2005 Fukuoka earthquake, the Center, which covers 2,000 m2, can accommodate 42 four-ton trucks and has a heliport. It can also serve as an evacuation center, with room for 100 evacuees. This is the third such center in Fukuoka Prefecture. (The other two are in Chikugo and Chikuho.) It was built by the Fukuoka Prefecture Truck Association. Source: RKB News, 5/18
