Fukuoka Cherry Blossom Forecast 2016 Update

Update! Fukuoka’s sakura are now expected to bloom on Mar. 18 (Fri.), five days earlier than previously predicted! Fukuoka will still be the first area of the country to enjoy blooming sakura. Although a mild winter usually delays the blooming of sakura, the relatively high temperatures western Japan has experienced throughout February and March (early spring in Japan) have pushed forward the predicted bloom dates; particularly since next week’s predicted temperatures have jumped even higher. Areas where the average temperatures have always been high, however, such as southern Kyushu and other areas along the Pacific coast, may still experience slight delays. Stay tuned here, as Fukuoka Now will update its annual Sakura & Ohanami Guide in a few days for now. Use it to find some of the best places to enjoy ohanami in Fukuoka and all over Kyushu.
