Fukuoka City has adopted a service that will allow the public make electronic transactions at approximately 30 locations throughout the city using LINE. The cashless payment system will be available from mid-June to the end of November. The LINE Pay app can now be used to purchase tickets at a range of public facilities, such as the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum and the City Zoological Garden. Users will also be able to buy goods from vending machines inside the premises of some of the participating institutions. The public will be asked to provide feedback by taking a questionnaire, which will help improve services in Fukuoka. The city will also support eight business operators, including Rakuten and the Bank of Fukuoka, in order to trial cash free payment systems at commercial facilities in the private sector.
