Fukuoka City announced this year’s recipients of its bunka-sho (culture award). The prize is given annually to individuals and organizations that have contributed to culture in the city. The four individuals recognized for 2018 were Naoki Award-winning writer Akira Higashiyama, author of “Yama Yo Hashire” Takashi Yano, music director of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra Kazuhiro Koizumi, and acclaimed dancer Nobuo Harada.
