Following an announcement by Fukuoka Ariakekai Gyoren (the Fukuoka Ariake Sea Fishery Association), based in Yanagawa City, ‘Fukuoka Nori’ had its name changed to ‘Fukuoka Ariake Nori’ on Nov. 26. The new branding was unveiled at the first Nori auction of the season at the Gyoren Kyohan Center in Yanagawa. Nori (seaweed) from the Ariake Sea is known for its quality. To avoid confusion with Saga Nori, which is also grown in the Ariake Sea, the new name retains its ‘Fukuoka’ branding. Source: Yomiuri Online, Nov. 27, 2016
