Employment conditions have become more difficult for taxi drivers with the entry of new companies in the business and the increase in the number of taxicabs, so the members of the Fukuoka City Taxicab Association have decided to conduct a trial that will involve the reduction of up to 30% in the number cabs on the street in the Fukuoka City metropolitan region. The trial will be conducted for four days—the four Mondays in April. Participation will be voluntary. They will try to determine whether the smaller fleets will have any effect on revenue per cab and traffic congestion.
