The governors of the seven prefectures in Kyushu met with the governors of Okinawa and Yamaguchi in Ibusuki, Kagoshima on May 23 for the Kyushu Region Prefectural Governors Assembly. The meeting compiled a report looking into support services for the Kumamoto area following last year’s earthquake. It was decided that in the future, personnel would be dispatched without delay should an earthquake hit with a seismic intensity above six. Designated locations for collecting disaster goods were damaged in the Kumamoto earthquake, and it was also decided that more of these sites will be set up in neighboring prefectures around the affected area.
