Heavy Rains Continue in Northern Kyushu – Advisories Issued

Record levels of rain have continue to fall in Northern Kyushu and are expected to continue in the coming days. Landslides and flooding warnings have issued in many areas. People in heavily affected areas should follow evacuation orders and stay away from cliffs and rivers.

As a result of heavy rains in Northern Kyushu at least 590,000 people have been advised to evacuate their homes due to potential landslides or floods. This and the information below was collected at 16:00 on Friday, July 6 and is correct to the best of our knowledge. The situation is very changeable. Please consult with local authorities and government websites for up-to-date information.

Evacuation advisories have been issued for these areas:
· Toho Village
· Asakura City: Hakimachi, Asakura, Miyano, Takagi, Inaibaru
· Fukuoka City: Kashiwara (Minami-ku), Oaza(Sawara-ku), Sawara (Sawara-ku), Umebayashi (Sawara-ku)
· Munakata City: Yamada Area
· Kitakyushu City: Kokura (Kita-ku, Minami-ku), Yahata (Higashi-ku, Nishi-ku), Tobata-ku, Moji-ku, Wakamatsu-ku

Landslide advisories have been issued for the following areas:
· Regional area: Kama City, Soeda-machi, Koga City, Umi-machi, Okagaki-machi, Kurate-machi
· Regional part: Yoshitomi-machi, Koge-machi, Asakura City, Nakagawa-machi, Kasuga City, Kasuya-machi, Miyako-machi
· Some areas within the following cities: Kitakyushu City, Nogata City, Izuka City, Yukuhashi City, Onojo City, Itoshima City, Sasaguri-machi, Sue-machi, Onga-machi, Kanda-machi, Munakata City, Dazaifu City, Kurume City, Chikuzen-cho , Katsuragawa-cho, Shime-machi
· Some areas within the following regions: Hakata-ku, Chuo-ku, Minami-ku, Jonan-ku, Sawara-ku, Nishi-ku

Flood risks advisories have been issued for the following areas:
The Muromi River, Umi River and Tataragawa River in Fukuoka City.
