Between May 18 (Wed.) and Jun. 30 (Thu.), those who volunteered in the aftermath of the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes can receive a discount on tickets for the Hinokuni-go highway bus, which runs from Kumamoto to Fukuoka/Fukuoka Airport (operated by Nishitetsu Highway Bus and Kyushu Sanko Bus); all fares higher than ¥1,000 will be discounted to ¥1,000. Volunteers must bring a volunteer certificate issued by the volunteer center with which they worked, and show this to the driver before paying the bus fare. The discount can be redeemed regardless of the issue date on the certificate. Please note: one certificate per person. Only applicable for buses departing from Kumamoto (boarding between JR Kumamoto-ekimae and Obara) for Fukuoka; but customers can disembark at any stop on the route.
