Taking in burial sites around Shinbaru and Nuyama, which form part of the Okinoshima Island and Related Sites in Munakata Region that hopes to gain status as a world heritage site this summer, carriage tours exploring Fukutsu City’s kofun (burial mounds) started on April 20. The city has purchased a new 10-seat carriage from abroad, and the Munakata Riding Club (which runs the Tsuyazaki sightseeing horse drawn carriage) will operate a tour around the kofun in the area. Accompanied by a guide who provides an explanation of the 41 ancient tomb foundations, the horse-drawn carriage travels at a leisurely pace and the tour lasts around 30 minutes. The service will run on Saturdays and Sundays until the Autumn for ¥1,000 (junior high school students) and ¥500 (elementary school students). For inquiries, contact the Tsuyazaki sightseeing horse drawn carriage at 0940-51-1292.
