The JR Group of companies will develop an online reservation system that will let people book shinkansen and other express train seats from outside Japan. The new system is slated for completion sometime before the end of fiscal 2018, and users will be required to register a credit card. Given the increase in individual travelers from overseas, JR aims to make it easier for people to get around Japan by using its trains. It also hopes this will encourage people to visit Japan’s outlying regions. Source: fiba.jp
