Largest Telescope in Kyushu

The Hoshino Bunka Kan, an astronomical observatory based in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture was renovated and reopened in mid-April. It now boasts a 100 cm-caliber reflecting telescope (previously 65cm), and regains its status as one the largest in Kyushu, after facing competition from the likes of Minami Aso Luna Observatory. Making the most of the clean, mountain air in Hoshino, the observatory first opened in 1991 and welcomes around 15,000 visitors every year. Observation starts from 6:30pm (7:30pm in summer) and ends at 9:50pm (those staying in the accommodation facilities can use the telescope until later). The old telescope will be used for daytime sun observations. Website: http://www.hoshinofurusato.com/constellation/
