A liaison council composed of 23 local governments, chambers of commerce and industry, and companies in areas located along the Kyushu Shinkansen route slated to open in March 2011 held a meeting Fukuoka City on the 15th. The objective was to discuss and plan events and publicity campaigns to maximize the economic benefits of the new route. Four cities in Fukuoka Prefecture—Fukuoka City, Kurume, Chikugo, and Omuta—have published and distributed 10,000 copies of a guidebook, which was used as an example of a model project at the meeting.
