Luxury Apartments on Old Daimyo Elementary Site Eye Foreign Tenants

As part of the efforts to redevelop the site of the old Daimyo Elementary School, Sekisui House and Nishi-Nippon Railroad will build furnished luxury service apartments with an eye on attracting foreign tenants. Plans are in the works to build a multipurpose facility centered on a hotel operated by the U.S.-based luxury hotel chain Ritz-Carlton, and the apartments would be housed in the 18-story Community Wing. The companies are hoping foreigners working for foreign companies in the area will rent the units, which will be fully-furnished, full-service apartments offering additional paid services like house-cleaning. Given the city’s proximity to Asia, hopes are high that this new facility will help attract IT and other companies from Singapore, the rest of Southeast Asia and India to set up shop in Fukuoka.
