Nanakuma Subway Line Extension Delayed

The extension to Fukuoka City Subway’s Nanakuma Line has been delayed. The huge sinkhole that opened up near Hakata Station last year has put the proposed development behind schedule. The new section of the Nanakuma Line was due to be in operation by 2020 and cost approximately ¥45 billion, but interruptions to the excavation and the reinforcement work that now need to be carried out has seen developers push the expected opening to 2022. The estimated cost of the construction has now risen to ¥58.7 billion. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 12/9/2017
