Plans are underway to establish a new elementary school on Island City. Large scale housing developments in the area have resulted in an increase in the number of students enrolled at Teriha Elementary School. A committee made up of guardians, local representatives, and school officials announced preparations are in place for the school to open in time for the 2019 academic year. The committee decided on the name Teriha-kita Elementary School at a meeting held on Dec. 6. The executive office will continue to take necessary measures to ensure the completion of the school.
