The Nishinippon City Bank, based in Fukuoka City, announced plans to finish paying back by September the remaining 35 billion yen in public funds it received. The bank’s predecessor before a merger, Fukuoka City Bank, received the public assistance when it was in financial difficulties eight years ago. The bank focused on strengthening its bottom line and was able to pay back half of the original 70 billion yen it received in 2006.
