According to the Accommodation Statistics Survey recently released by the Japan Tourism Agency, the number of foreign tourist lodgers has increased significantly throughout Kyushu. In terms of year-on-year rates of increase, four prefectures in Kyushu ranked in the top 10 in Japan: Oita 59.3%, Saga 51.9%, Kumamoto 51.7%, and Kagoshima 48.7%. The total number of foreign tourist lodgers throughout Kyushu jumped 31.4% to a record high 7.514 million.
