The three bus companies providing service on local routes in Oita City and Beppu will allow the use of the Nishi-Nippon Railway (Nishitetsu) contactless payment card nimoca for fares starting in December. They also plan to jointly establish a new company serving as a sales agent for these cards next March, and hope to expand their use to the stores in the cities’ central shopping districts. The three companies operate roughly 440 buses on these routes.
