Phase One of the Hakata Old Town Regeneration Project Completed

A ceremony was held to re-open Dekimachi Park. The park renovation is part of a wider effort to regenerate the old section of Hakata and transform it into a sightseeing destination. The Kyushigai (Old Town) Project aims to redevelop four districts around the shrines and temples across the center of Hakata. Fukuoka City Mayor Soichiro Takashima attended the event and expressed his desire to see Hakata’s history and tradition provide a point of contrast to the cutting edge developments taking place in the Tenjin area.
