Phone Interpretation Service Now Available in Malay

The Fukuoka Yokatoko Call Center expanded their offered services. The telephone-based interpreting system was established in June this year, initially providing round-the-clock translation in 14 languages including English, Chinese, Korean, and Thai. The service received positive feedback which resulted in the decision to add an interpreting service for Malay speakers in November. An increased number of tourist facilities, retailers, and restaurants have also begun to make use of the call center. The prefecture hopes that the service will create a smooth and relaxed sightseeing atmosphere for visitors to Fukuoka so that they will want to return in the future.
