Plans For an InterContinental Hotel in Beppu

Plans are moving ahead to open a new InterContinental Hotel in Beppu, Oita. The number of affluent visitors, both domestic and international, to the area has been increasing. The luxury resort will target this demographic by making use of the surrounding hot springs. The plan is to convert and develop an IT corporate research laboratory located in the Myoban area of Beppu. The high-end hotel is expected to have approximately 90 rooms across multiple floors and open before the start of the 2019 Rugby World Cup. The Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is a British hotel chain that has facilities in more than 60 countries. In Japan, the company runs a joint venture with ANA (All Nippon Airways) known as the IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan, which is now one of the biggest international hotel operators in the country.
