Poisonous Octopus Found In Hakata Bay

The Noko branch of Fukuoka City Fishery Cooperative Association received a report of poisonous blue-ringed octopus that was found while fishing on the northern side of Nokonoshima. Fukuoka Prefectural Fisheries and Ocean Technology Center instructed them to kill it immediately. Blue-ringed octopus can be deadly when they bite. Fukuoka City is warning citizens not to touch them and to report to the City when they are sighted. Blue-ringed octopus are small (less than 10 cm in length) and show a blue ring pattern on their bodies when stimulated. Source: Fukuoka City, 5/12/2017
