Fukuoka Prefecture announced estimated residential land values based on projected property tax in the region. The overall average has dropped for the eighth consecutive time since 1997. Decreases were recorded in 41 municipalities, with areas such as Hirokawa and Keisen falling most sharply. The trend has been in part attributed to local businesses losing customers and clients to major companies in neighboring municipalities. Increases were detected in 19 cities and towns, such as Fukuoka, Kasuga, and Dazaifu. It is believed that the rise is linked to commercial developments in central Tenjin, and the demand for residential land in and around the center of Fukuoka. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 11/15/2017
