Rugby World Cup Seeking Volunteer Supporters

The Rugby World Cup 2019 Organizing Committee is working with the 12 host cities to attract 10,000 volunteers. If the number of applicants exceeds expectations, a ballot may be used prior to the interview stage. Members of the public can apply via the official Rugby World Cup 2019 website. Volunteers must be able to communicate in Japanese and must be at least 18 years old as of March 31. (Please note that written consent from a guardian is required for anybody under the age of 20). Applicants can select the host city where they want to volunteer. The minimum number of shifts vary depending on the location and role. Fukuoka City is recruiting approximately 500 to 900 volunteers to participate for at least three days at locations, such as Level 5 Stadium, Fukuokakuko (Fukuoka Airport) Subway Sta., and an area for fans called Fanzone. Kumamoto City is looking for 400 to 800 volunteers to be able to support for a minimum of 3 days at Kumamoto Stadium, Kumamoto Sta., and the Fanzone. Oita City is seeking 1,000 to 2,000 participants to volunteer for at least four days at Oita Stadium, Oita Sta., and the Fanzone. The application period closes at 11:59 on July 18 (Wed.).
