Sales have begun this year of the highest quality mangoes produced in Miyazaki Prefecture, known as Taiyo no Tamago, or Eggs of the Sun. Auctions started simultaneously at 22 markets throughout the country. The highest price received was at the Chuo Wholesale Market in Miyazaki City, where a price of 200,000 was set for a box of two mangoes, weighing roughly one kilogram. That is the third straight year that price became the highest price.
