Sharp Launches Softbank Hawks Smartwatch

The electronics company Sharp has announced that a special Softbank Hawks-themed smartwatch went on sale via mail order from July 28 and is available in-store from July 29. The watch will keep fans up to date with the score of Fukuoka Softbank Hawks matches and glow or vibrate depending on what is going on in the game. The new “funband” design will cost ¥10,000 (tax not included) and there will be a ¥120 service charge (free for the first year after registration). People who plan to use the device will have to link it up to their smartphone, download a special app, and become a member of Sharp. The manufacturers are looking into the possibility of creating similar watches aimed at fans of other baseball teams and for even completely different sports. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 7/25/2017
